The letters Q, W and Y only occur in foreign words and are not included in the 28 letters of the Latin alphabet.

In 1993 the Romanian Academy (a cultural forum founded in 1866. It covers the Scientific, Artistic and Literary domains) decided to fully revert to the pre 1953 spelling rules as the 1953 reform was forcibly imposed by communists.
